Travis d’Arnaud is still recovering from a fractured foot, and has began running in a pool. The next progression will be running on land, and then getting back into baseball games.
After a few rehab games, it’s more than likely that we will see d’Arnaud join the Mets, and not spend any time at Triple-A Las Vegas.
D’Arnaud was ready for big league action at the beginning of the year, he was simply sent to Triple-A so that the Mets could gain an extra year of control over the young catcher. It was a smart move by the Mets that backfired a little bit.
Needless to say, we will probably see d’Arnaud with the Mets as soon as he is healthy enough to play in some games. There won’t be an extended period down on the farm, and I would expect to see him at Citi Field by the middle of August (depending on how the rehab goes).
